COUNCIL OF HOME DEM’TRATION CLUBS The Hyde County Horn Denionsti'ation Council met Thursday, June 11, in S\van Quarter. :Mrs. Myi’a Palricl gave a report of the' United Na tions tour. Mrs. Patrick was repi-esentative fro in Hyde County in the tour sponsored by the Home Demonstration Clubs Mrs. J. H Swindell gave a report of the county nominating committee. The newly elected county council officers are: president, Mrs. H. L. Baliance; vice president, Mrs. Carl Ca hoon; secretary, Mrs. W. W. Watson; treasurer, IMrs. Luke Neal. Jlrs. Leon Baliance, presiding, I'cminded the council members to review their county goals and work toward them, snee half of the year has passed. The Hyde County Homo Demonstration club members will charter a a bus to New Bern, June 25, for a tour of Tryon Palace and other place, of historical interest. If any are notify Mrs. Iberia R. Miller had received a scholar ship to attend the State Jlusic Workshop in Greensboro, June 15-19. The president reminded the group of State Homemakers Week, July 7-10 in Raleigh. The county goal is for every club to bo represented. Mrs. E. E. Hodges, of the Rose Bay Club, gave devotional. A capias was issued for him. GEORGE H. ALEXANDER DIES IN VA HOSPITAL George Hurdle Alexander, .64, died in Durham Veterans Hos pital Thursday after a long ill ness. A native of Tyrrell County, he was a son of Frank and Mrs. Alary Vendricks Ale:andcr. He was a World War I veter an and a member of Scupper- nong American Legion post 182.
